Why do I want to travel ? Traveling for me represents new life experience. Discovering culture, traditions, food and people has always had a sting mental impact for me. With Instagram, Snapchat and all sorts of social media it’s really easy to travel throughout someone else’s travels. I don’t want to do that, I want to experience things by myself! I wanted to do a tag, so here are my answers to the Wanderlust tag.
Where was your first plane to?
My first plane experience was when I was 11 year old, I flew from Paris to Nice with my half brother as my birthday gift and visited the city for the day before flying back to Paris. That was awesome. My half brother is a air-traffic controller so basically he works with planes on a daily basis and was able to get me inside of the cockpit of an Airbus A320. The experience as a first time plane traveler was beyond amazing, seeing all those buttons, the sky in front of me (the weather was so good too) and talking to pilots about how they manage the plane was mind blowing and really interesting. Second time I was on a plane was to attend my half brother’s wedding which was about an hour and an half long flight. Both time I traveled inside of France.
Where have you travelled to that you would love to visit again?
All the place I’ve been to would be amazing to visit again. Choosing should be hard thought, but maybe the Chateaux de la Loire because I love history and architecture very much. Or Spain. I don’t know it’s too hard.
You’re leaving tomorrow, money is no object, where are you going?
If I had an unlimited budget I’ll would try to go as far as possible to enjoy it. So comes right in my mine Australia and New Zealand. Otherwise I would go to a road trip through the 50 US states (including Hawaii and Alaska of course). Or I would travel the world for a year.
Preferred method of travel; planes, trains or car?
Car if I am not driving so that I can enjoy the landscape and the surrounding earth and can stop whenever I want. I enjoy the freedom you have on a road trip. Obviously for long distance plane is a must .I’m fine travelling on planes and I don’t mind turbulence. I enjoy train for short distance when I want to go from a city to another city.
Favourite travel website?
When I plan my travels I try to read as much I can about the destination. I search Pinterest and Google for blogs and sites. Travels guides by people who live in the areas are awesome too. I also love to enter a local tourism office to grab flyers about sightseeing places I want to go, grab a map… I also use tripadvisor for hotel and restaurant reviews.
Where would you travel to just eat the food ?
I feel like I am going to insult the country because landscapes there are stunning too and the culture is so different to what I am use to but I have to chose Japan. I love Japanese food but the one you find in western countries is modified so I would love to eat true and authentic Japanese food.
Is there a place you would never go again?
I’ve never had a hard core bad travel experience. I am pretty open minded and easy to please. I literally can’t think of any place I hate to that extent that I wouldn’t want to visit again. Some places I probably wouldn’t go back to just because I’ve felt I’ve ‘done’ them and I have the rest of the world to see.
Can you recite your passport number from memory if asked ?
Actually no. But I have an excuse because I don’t have one. I’ve only travel inside of France with a plane, and for that you only need your ID. Same thing in the European Union country I’ve visited. And I can’t barely recite my mobile number so..
Do you prefer the Window, Aisle, or Middle seat?
I don’t mind. Window side is good if you’re landing near mountains or the sea or a giant metropolis but otherwise I don’t mind. Quick tip if you travel to Nice always choose a window side seat. To land on this airport plane have to turn over over the Mediterranean Sea and the view is stunning. Also if you come from Paris you overview the Alps while approaching Nice.
How do you pass your time on the airplane?
Magazines and food. That’s all I have to say as I am still a newbie to airplanes.
I love doing tags because they make me reflects on me and this one reminded me how lucky I am to be able to travel. Leave me your thought in the comment section.
Have a nice Saturday, Mathilde.
PS : I hope you love the new “spring” theme on flavietherese.
